Based on the cover?
Jem and the Holograms and werewolves!
The plot:
Danielle is super-psyched about going on tour with her new band. But is she turning into a werewolf?
Typical quote:
“She still thinks I wrote that song to accuse her of killing Joey, Danielle thought. The two of us will never become friends.”
Worth reading?
Yes! I love this one. Danielle’s totally freaked that she keeps blacking out during full moons, but it gives her the inspiration to write a hit song called “Bad Moonlight.” When Piper Perabo wrote “Can’t Fight the Moonlight” in Coyote Ugly, Bad Moonlight by R.L. Stine was definitely what popped into my mind. If I wrote a sequel to Coyote Ugly, it’d be called Werewolf Ugly and it’d be the plot of this book but with “Can’t Fight the Moonlight”:
Love that song. Stine, unfortunately, is nowhere near as good a songwriter as Ms. Perabo. I mean, it’s a book, so there’s no actual music, but wtf is the meter of “Bad Moonlight,” exactly?
Bad moonlight, falling over me,Bad moonlight, shining down on me,
Bad moonlight—
I want to die for you!
“How totally weird, Danielle thought as she finished.” It is pretty weird! Can you think of a way of singing that? The song is repeated a lot, so I tried and tried, but I couldn’t come up with anything. Please contact me if you come up with anything. The book is still awesome, though. It’s as silly as the premise, and I actually liked the twist a lot.
